DVD Review: The Cult of Cartman - Revelations
Published October 17, 2008
The Show
Oh, South Park. You either love the show or hate it. There’s no other way to look at it. But, there are people (like me) who aren’t completely obsessed with it and don’t have to buy every season that comes out. That’s why a set is like this is so perfect for a South Park fan like me.
With Cartman being my favorite character, I love this set that Comedy Central has put together. The Cult of Cartman - Revelations comes with 12 hilarious episodes all starring Eric Cartman in all his insensitive glory. Whether it’s pretending to be handicapped to get into the Special Olympics, or concocting a plan to get back at the local boy who just sold him pubes, Cartman will stop at nothing to get what he wants
The DVDs
There are two DVDs, each with 12 episodes on them. The beginning of each episode features Eric Cartman in new animated bits dispensing his words of wisdom that are supposed to be taken as life lessons. They are funny, and poignant.
For an example, on the episode “Scott Tenorman Must Die” Cartman walks onto the screen his snazzy new suit and says “If someone plays a trick on you, retaliate a thousand fold.” Anyone who’s actually seen the episode knows exactly what the fat little kid is referring to.
I won’t spoil the rest of them for you, because this is one of the main reasons for buying this set. It’s all new animation.
The list of episodes includes:
Disc 1
"Scott Tenorman Must Die"
"A.W.E.S.O.M.-O"
"The Death Of Eric Cartman"
"Cartoon Wars, Part I"
"Cartoon Wars, Part II"
"Le Petite Tourette"
Disc 2
"Tonsil Trouble"
"Eek, A Penis!"
"Cartmanland"
"Up the Down Steroid"
"Super Fun Time"
"Ginger Kids"
The Quality
Every episode is presented in its original 1.33:1 full-screen ratio. The colors are bright and vibrant and look just as good, maybe even just a tad better, than when they originally aired on TV.
